Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate and honor women throughout history. Wondering how you can celebrate? We’ve asked the podcast team for some of their favorite women-hosted, women-empowering, and women-celebrating podcasts. This month tune in to the podcasts below to hear the voices of women who have overcome challenges, exceeded expectations, and aspire us all.
1. Womanica
Thinking back to our history classes growing up, we had one question: Where the ladies at? Enter, Womanica. In just 5 minutes a day, learn about different incredible women from throughout history. On Wonder Media Network’s award-winning podcast, we’re telling the stories of women you may or may not know — but definitely should.
2. What’sHerName
Committed to reclaiming forgotten history, What’sHerName tells the stories of fascinating women you’ve never heard of (but should have). Through compelling interviews with guest historians, writers, and scholars, Katie and Olivia bring to life the “lost” women of history. Fascinating and funny, thought-provoking and thoughtful, What’sHerName restores women’s voices to the conversation.
3. Ordinary Equality
In 2021, abortion access is still in the news; from our founding, the conversation around reproductive rights has been one of the most contentious political debates in America. This history is one that combines political, religious, and social forces, layered with systemic racism and misogyny. From Wonder Media Network, co-hosts Kate Kelly and Jamia Wilson unpack this rich history from the views of colonial America, to seminal Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, all the way to the present day.
4. The History Chicks
Two women. Half the population. Several thousand years of history. About an hour. In each episode of this biweekly podcast, hosts Beckett Graham and Susan Vollenweider introduce a different female character from history — factual or fictional.
5. The Broad Experience
Listen for thoughtful discussions about glass ceilings and women in the workplace. This award winning podcast is named after the decades-old slang term for “woman” in US English as a way to reclaim the word—and it’s doing just that. Tune in for insightful interviews and inspiring dialogue about women in the workplace.
6. The Michelle Obama Podcast
While no longer in production, we love the archives of former first lady Michelle Obama’s podcast. Expect episodes with her husband Barack and brother Craig, and also shows dedicated to menopause, the United State’s reckoning with race, and, of course, how Obama navigated her years in The White House.
7. Unladylike
Find out what happens when women break the rules – those unwritten but all too real bullsh*t expectations of how we should live our lives. Cristen Conger and Caroline Ervin (formerly Stuff Mom Never Told You) tackle questions through their trademark obsessive research, stories from rule-breakin’ ladies and a solid dose of delightful feminist rage.
8. Stuff Mom Never Told You
Join hosts Anney and Samantha to continue the conversation of what it is to identify as female through research-based discussion around feminism and how it impacts everyday life.
9. HERstory on the Rocks
Join us as we talk about good women, bad women, cartoon women, game changing women and all women in between – because ladies have nuance. Each week our ladies are paired with a themed cocktail and a recipe posted online so you can drink along with us. Come take the history class your teachers wouldn’t let you – more cursing, more drinking, and all ladies!
10. Mother Forking Podcast
Co-hosted by our very own Sr. Manager, Social Media & Brand Management Magen Mintchev and Celeste Charles, listen to these two moms share with you real-life topics about parenting, but in a raw and funny way. Enjoy!
